There are 3 parts to our packaging - the box, the inside foam insulation lining, and a bag of dry ice. Below is information on how to safely dispose of each of those.

BOX INFORMATION
The outside box should be recycled or composted as you normally would.

FOAM INFORMATION

The internal foam packaging inside our boxes is ClimaCell. It is starch-based, 100% eco-friendly and recyclable. ClimaCell is designed to be put in the same recycling bin right alongside your cardboard. You can read more about it at their website: https://www.temperpack.com/climacell/

DRY ICE DISPOSAL

Be careful when handling dry ice. Do not touch it with bare skin.

Our shipments have the dry ice in a bag for safety. The bag of dry ice rests on a cardboard tray for easy removal from the box.

Set the cardboard tray with the dry ice on a solid surface such as a wooden cutting board while you empty the meals from the box. After you are done removing the meals, place the tray of dry ice back in the box and set it on a patio, porch or other well-ventilated spot that is out of the reach of children, pets, and the general public. Do not put the dry ice down your toilet or leave it for too long in a sink to avoid damaging plumbing.

MORE INFORMATION ON DRY ICE HANDLING

Use insulated gloves or tongs when handling dry ice to prevent direct contact and potential skin irritation.

1) Leave package opened:

Upon arrival, leave the box open to allow the dry ice to vaporize.

2) Wait for Vaporization:

Leave the dry ice it in a well-ventilated area and allow it to naturally dissolve. This process turns the solid dry ice into gas.

3) Open Windows and Doors:

If you do not have a patio or safe outdoor space, ensure good ventilation in the room by opening windows and doors. This helps the dry ice to evaporate quickly and disperse safely.

4) Ask for Assistance:

If handling dry ice poses any challenges, seek assistance from a family member, caregiver, or a neighbor to help with the disposal process.

5) Never Flush Down Drains:

Do not flushing dry ice down drains or toilets, as extreme cold temperatures can damage plumbing.

Fun Eco-Friendly Dry Ice Disposal Method: Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide so, as long as you don't touch it bare handed, you can carefully break it up into small pieces in the bag with a hammer or mallet and, using a  spoon or tongs, mix in small amounts with the soil of your garden plants or house plants to give them a CO2 boost!
